Following his ten plus years as a Kansas City trial attorney, Scoville was appointed as associate circuit judge in Jackson County and later as a senior circuit court judge where he served in various counties in Missouri.

Outside of his judicial work, he is also an active member of the Eastern Jackson County Bar Association, the Hispanic Bar Association of Greater Kansas City and the American Judges Association. In the past 24 years, Scoville has been a member of 13 professional organizations, and has served on more than 20 committees.
