It is the mission of the Blue Springs Parks and Recreation Department to serve the public’s well-being by providing quality leisure opportunities through the research, establishment, implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive park, recreation, buildings and grounds system.

Blue Springs has an extensive recreation program for its residents and features a wide variety of leisure opportunities and special events for our youth, adults, and 50-plus senior population, with over 200 activities and events offered annually. All of this is made possible by the 24 full-time employees who staff the six divisions of the Parks and Recreation Department.

There are 19 public parks (four undeveloped), with 718 acres of park land located throughout the Blue Springs community. Blue Springs is also fortunate to have a mix of city, county, and state parks available to its residents.

The Parks and Recreation Department is also responsible for the maintenance and repair of all city-owned buildings and grounds.
