The Central Jackson County Emergency Management Agency (CJCEMA) is a cooperative effort between the cities of Blue Springs, Grain Valley and Lake Tapawingo in conjunction with the Central Jackson County Fire Protection District.  The member entities provide emergency preparedness planning for their respective jurisdictions and surrounding unincorporated areas.
Through the coordination of the CJCEMA, Blue Springs city staff have been going through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Incident Management System training.

This system ensures that all levels of government, nongovernmental organizations, and the private sector work seamlessly to oversee a major disaster or complicated situation.

The CodeRED Emergency Notification System is a high-speed telephone communication service for emergency notifications.
This system allows us to notify residents of emergency situations that require immediate action.  Once activated, the system will call your contact number and leave messages in voicemail boxes and on answering machines.

Blue Springs residents can also sign up for CodeRED Weather Warning while signing up for CodeRED Emergency Notification System.  The CodeRED Weather Warning is a severe weather early warning service that will call your contact number and deliver an alert message shortly after a warning is issued by the National Weather Service for your area.

Community Emergency Response Team Program (CERT)
certlogo-web.jpg

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact our area.  This program trains participants in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.

Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.  CERT members are encouraged to support the CJCEMA and take an active role in emergency preparedness projects in our community.

If you are interested in participating in the CERT program or would like more information, contact Sgt. Allen Kintz or Ed “Doc” Golden at (816) 228-0178.
