Volunteers in Police Service or VIPS is part of the Crime Prevention Unit of the Blue Springs Police Department. Under the supervision of Sergeant Allen Kintz, 22 volunteers are on the job in various duty assignments throughout the department.

Volunteers have regular training sessions, and perform duties in order to help free up time for officers to handle rigorous, demanding schedules that often change at a moments notice.

There are many opportunities for additional volunteers to help with detention, transporting vehicles, clerical duties, and community events. By becoming a VIPS, you too can help keep our city safe, while lending a much needed hand.

To date, almost 8,000 hours have been worked by our faithful VIPS, and several community events like the annual Fall Fun Fest parade and National Night Out in Blue Springs, always generate the need for many more hours of volunteer help.

Law enforcement works day and night and never takes a day off. So, if you have some free time, there is an opportunity for you to take an active part in helping keep our city safe, while lending a much needed hand to the men and women of our police department.
