Phase 1 of the Woods Chapel Road Project has moved forward so quickly that the City Council recently approved an accelerated start date for the second phase of the Woods Chapel Road project. Phase 2 includes reconstructing Woods Chapel Road from the south end of the current project to Walnut Street.
Improvements include a new rail crossing; softening the curve just south of rail crossing; realignment of the entrance of Lake Tapawingo to align with Mill Drive; and adding a roundabout at the intersection of Walnut Street and Woods Chapel Road.
Phase II utility relocation has begun. As soon as the utilities are moved, road construction can begin Fall of 2013. Funding for Phase 2 includes $2.9 million dollars of federal matching funds.
