In 2007, 82% of residents surveyed via the Blue Springs Citizen Survey said they were dissatisfied with the traffic flow on Woods Chapel Road, particularly during rush hours. Additionally, the development of a "stress-free" transportation system provided easy navigation in Blue springs has been one of many priority focus areas for the Blue Springs Renew the Blue Citizen Visioning Group.
In 2008, Blue Springs voters overwhelmingly approved two bond issues for street and sewer improvements. Question 2 authorized the issuance of $28 million in general obligation "No Tax Increase" bonds for selected road and intersection improvements, including enhancements along the
Woods Chapel Road Corridor in Blue Springs, Missouri.
