The Historic Preservation Commission is currently overseeing a Downtown Historic Survey with the assistance of a professional consultant, Rosin Preservation, LLC.
Over the next few months, the project team will be conducting in-depth archival research and fieldwork to document historic properties including taking photographs of the building's exterior and documenting physical condition and alterations. The survey area will concentrate on structures from Highway 7 to 19th Street and Main to Walnut Streets.
The survey and inventory work plays a critical role in historic preservation. This research will provide the city with a record of its historical development, as well as help identify potential historic resources and/or historic districts within the survey area.
The City received a service-based grant from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, State Historic Preservation Office to update its existing inventory and survey for the first time since 1986.
