Creating outstanding recreational, cultural and natural experiences to enrich and enhance the quality of life for our community today and for future generations.
Blue Springs has an extensive recreation program
for its residents and features a wide variety of leisure opportunities and special events for our youth, adults, and 50-plus senior population
, with over 200 activities and events offered annually. All of this is made possible by the 24 full-time employees who staff the six divisions of the Parks and Recreation Department.
There are 19 public parks (four undeveloped), with 816 acres of park land located throughout the Blue Springs community. Blue Springs is also fortunate to have a mix of city
, and state
parks available to its residents.
The Parks and Recreation Department is also responsible for the maintenance and repair of all city-owned buildings and grounds.
The Park Commission is responsible for guiding the operations and growth of the Parks and Recreation Department and act in an advisory capacity to departmental staff and the Blue Springs City Council. To learn more about the commission, click here
