Congratulations to all of our competitors!  Below are the official results of the race listed by category:

Kids Triathlon

We are proud to announce the third Blue Springs Kids Triathlon on June 21, 2014.  This triathlon has four brackets.

Thanks to Blue Springs HyVee's sponsorship, we now have reduced registration fees!

Tri for Tots (ages 4+ who need help during the event) — $15 registration fee
Swim 20 yards, Bike .25 mile and Run .25 mile.

Participants 4+ years old who need an assisted device during the race.  Swimming will be in the indoor warm water pool at the YMCA and participants may use flotation device.  Participants may use training wheels or big wheel (non-motorized) for bike portion and parent/guardian may run with the participant in the running portion.

Novice (ages 6-10) — $25 registration fee
Swim 25 yards, Bike 1.25 miles and Run .53 mile.

This new bracket is designed for participants new to triathlons or not able to safely do the longer competitive distances.

Swimming will be in the indoor lap pool at the YMCA.  Participant start times will be staggered every 20 seconds.  Start times will be provided at packet pick up and be based off the approximate time to complete the swim distance.

Competitive Divisions (ages 6-10 and 11-14) — $25 registration fee
Ages 6-10 — Swim 100 yards, Bike 2 miles and Run 1 mile.
Ages 11-14 Swim 200 yards, Bike 4 miles and Run 2 miles.

This bracket is designed for participants can safely complete the distances.  Trophies will be awarded for the top 3 males and top 3 females for the Comp. 6-10 and Comp. 11-14 age divisions.

Swimming will be in the indoor lap pool at the YMCA.  Participant start times will be staggered every 20 seconds.  Start times will be provided at packet pick up and be based off the approximate time to complete the swim distance.

Triathlon Training — $45 includes Kids Triathlon registration
Kids ages 6-14 can prepare for the triathlon at the Blue Springs Family YMCA. This 8-week program concentrates on all aspects of the triathlon. Training will be on Tuesdays & Thursdays beginning at 6 p.m. from April 21-June 14. Triathlon training only is offered for $30 - at the Blue Springs Family YMCA.

Details
The events begin at 7:30 a.m. Each participant must have their body marked on event site with appropriate number (matching bib) by 7 a.m. Participant equipment and clothing must be placed in appropriate transition area prior to the event start. Participant bicycle drop-off will be from 6:15-7 a.m.

There will be an optional Participant Informational Meeting on Friday, June 20 at 7 p.m. at Blue Springs South High School.

Packet Pickup

Wednesday-Friday, June 18-20 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Parks & Recreation counter in City Hall.  Friday, June 20 from 6-8 p.m. in the Blue Springs South High School cafeteria.

Race Day Check-in/Body Marking

Race day check-in will be at the Blue Springs YMCA.  Race chips for timing will be available at check-in outside main entrance to the YMCA.  Triathlon tattoos will be provided at packet pick up and used for body marking. 

Race Course

Swimming will be in the pool at the Blue Springs YMCA, biking will be on Adams Dairy Parkway (closed for the event) and running will be through the campus of Blue Springs South High School and adjacent Young Park.

Required Equipment

Participants must provide their own swim suit, goggles, towels, running shoes, socks, running clothes, bicycle and bike helmet. Participants will not be able to compete without proper attire or safety equipment. Parents/Guardians are required to be on-site during the entire event.

Refunds

This event will not be rescheduled in the case of inclement weather. Refunds will not be provided if the event is cancelled or a participant does or cannot compete after registration is paid. Proceeds from this event will support the Let’s Move! Blue Springs initiative for healthy eating and active living.

Awards

Each participant will receive a finishing medal.  Trophies will be awarded for the top 3 males and females in each competitive age division only.
