WHY: A recent review by the American College of Sports Medicine concluded that the gestational period is an opportunity to promote positive health behaviors that can have short- and long-term benefits for the mother. There is strong evidence that moderate intensity physical activity of at least 150 minutes per week reduces the risk of excessive gestational weight gain, risk of gestational diabetes, and symptoms of postpartum depression. Postpartum women who are active during pregnancy are at lower risk of excessive postpartum weight retention, future obesity, and depressive symptoms.
"I have been fortunate enough to train through all 3 of my pregnancies. I have learned that keeping active during pregnancy and after is so important for maintaining weight, good health, and having good habits. Not to mention it just makes you feel amazing both mentally and physically so what I want to teach with this class is that there are no limitations during and after pregnancy, only modifications."
