The Budget and Accounting Division of the Finance Department is responsible for the daily financial actions of the city.
Primary Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Maintains the accounting records of the city
- Prepares regular financial reports summarizing the city’s financial position
- Prepares and publish the city’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and the Popular Annual Financial Report
- Coordinates issuance of debt instruments
- Ensures timely payment of all city obligations
- Performs daily accounting services, such as:
- Payroll
- Accounts payable
- Accounts receivable
- Purchases
- Fixed asset accounting
- Grant accounting
- Coordinates the development and preparation of the city’s Annual Budget
- Assists with development and update of city’s 5-year Capital Improvements Plan (CIP)
- Coordinates development of performance measures and benchmark analysis
