Most pets picked up by Blue Springs Animal Control Officers are held at the Blue Springs Animal Control Facility while we attempt to locate an owner. For this reason, it is best to always contact Animal Control if your pet is missing. If an owner cannot be located, animals are then transferred to another facility.
Lee’s Summit Animal Shelter is the primary location animals are taken once they leave the Blue Springs Animal Control Facility. To look for your animal there, view the
Lee's Summit Animal Shelter website. If you think an animal on their website may be your pet, you must contact a Blue Springs Animal Control Officer (ACO) for a release form. You will need to provide proof of rabies vaccination if your pet is not wearing their current rabies tag.
At times, Lee's Summit Animal Shelter is full and unable to take our animals. An ACO will contact local veterinarians for possible kennel space at their facility. Veterinarians contacted: Blue Springs Animal Hospital, Crain Vet Clinic, and Grain Valley Animal Hospital.
To redeem your pet, come to the Blue Springs Animal Control Facility after calling Animal Control at 816-228-0149 to arrange for an ACO to meet you at our facility located at 1228 NW Knox Street.
If you have any questions please call Animal Control at 816-228-0149.
