1. What are the qualifications to become a police officer?

To qualify to become a Blue Springs Police Officer you must meet the following qualifications:

You must be 21 years of age.

A high school graduate.

Able to complete a 16-week field training program conducted after be hired.

Class A certified, or willing to attend a qualified academy.

2. When are weather sirens tested?

Early Warning Sirens are tested on the first Wednesday of each month at 11:00 am. Sirens are not tested during threatening weather.

Note: When weather conditions warrant the activation of the Early Warning Siren system, an “all clear” will not be given. Residents need to tune into a local radio or TV channel for information.

3. Is there a curfew for minors in Blue Springs?

Yes, persons age 16 years and younger shall not be in or upon any public place with the City between the hours of 12:01 am and 6:00 am This does not apply if accompanied by parent or guardian or going to or from employment.

The City of Blue Springs also has a daytime curfew which allows officers to question any youth between the ages of six and 17 who is found on the street or in a business, who is subject to compulsory education under the law of the State of Missouri. Daytime curfew is enforced between 9:00 am and 2:30 pm when school is in session. There are exceptions granted in this ordinance.
